Introduction\n\nThis Privacy Policy describes how MiygaL PDF (\"the App\"), developed by MiygaL Studio (\"we,\" \"our,\" or \"us\"), accesses, collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application on Android and iOS. We are committed to complete transparency and absolute user privacy.\n\nThe App is built on a **strict local-only architecture**. It operates without backend servers, without user accounts or registrations, and without any analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting SDKs. All data created, accessed, or stored by the App remains exclusively on your physical device and is never transmitted to MiygaL Studio or any external party, except for native in-app billing transactions processed directly by Google Play or Apple App Store as detailed in Section 5.\n\n---\n\n## 2. Data the App Accesses and Stores Locally\n\nThe App processes and stores the following categories of data on your device only. None of this data is ever transmitted off your device or accessible to MiygaL Studio.\n\n### 2.1 PDF Files and Document Content\n\n- **What is accessed:** When you open a PDF document, the App reads the file directly from your device's storage (or authorized folders on iOS). When you annotate, fill forms, highlight text, sign, or modify a document, the App writes changes back to your local file upon your instruction. When using tools such as Organise, Merge, Split, or Smart Compress, the App creates temporary working copies in your device's local cache directory before presenting or saving the final file.\n- **Why it is accessed:** To render, view, annotate, edit, reorganize, merge, split, and compress PDF documents as requested by you.\n- **Where it is stored:** In your device's local storage in the location you originally chose, or within the App's temporary internal cache. Files are never uploaded to cloud servers or remote databases.\n\n### 2.2 PDF Passwords (Secure Password Vault)\n\n- **What is collected:** If you choose to enable \"Remember Password\" for a password-protected PDF, the App saves the password you entered for that document.\n- **Why it is collected:** To auto-unlock password-protected files on future visits via biometric authentication (fingerprint or face unlock) or device PIN, eliminating repetitive manual password entry.\n- **How it is encrypted and stored:** Passwords are encrypted using hardware-backed **AES-256 encryption** via the Android Keystore System (on Android) or Apple Keychain (on iOS). They are accessible only after successful device authentication.\n- **How long it is kept:** Stored passwords remain in your secure vault until you individually delete them in Settings -> Manage Vault, clear them using the \"Wipe Vault\" option, or uninstall the App.\n- **Sharing:** Saved passwords never leave your device and are never shared with anyone, including MiygaL Studio.\n\n### 2.3 Saved Signatures (Secure Signature Vault)\n\n- **What is collected:** When you draw a handwritten signature using the signature canvas or import an image signature and choose to save it, the App stores the signature graphic.\n- **Why it is collected:** To allow you to reuse your digital signature across multiple documents and contracts with one tap, without redrawing or re-importing each time.\n- **How it is encrypted and stored:** Signature entries are stored securely in hardware-backed encrypted local storage (Android Keystore System or Apple Keychain).\n- **How long it is kept:** Signatures remain stored until you delete them individually in Settings -> Manage Vault -> Signatures, clear all saved signatures, or uninstall the App.\n- **Sharing:** Saved signatures are strictly confined to your device and are never transmitted to external servers.\n\n### 2.4 PDF Curator & Smart Collections (On-Device Categorization)\n\n- **What is accessed and stored:** The App maintains category associations (such as Invoices, Bills, Tax, Identity, Medical, Receipts, and user-defined tags) to help organize documents.\n- **Why it is accessed:** To power the PDF Curator feature, which groups related documents into convenient smart collections and suggests relevant categories.\n- **How it is processed:** Categorization is calculated **100% on-device** using local categorization rules and document attributes (with document text evaluated *only if Content Search consent is explicitly granted*). **No cloud AI, no external machine learning APIs, and no remote language models are used.**\n- **Where it is stored:** Metadata tags and category mappings are stored in a private local database on your device.\n\n### 2.5 Bookmarked Documents (Offline Private Library)\n\n- **What is accessed and stored:** If you enable the \"Secure Bookmarked Files\" option in Settings, the App creates a secure, sandboxed local copy of your bookmarked PDF documents within the App's private internal storage directory.\n- **Why it is accessed:** To ensure your essential documents remain intact and accessible in your private offline library, even if the original file is deleted or cleared from external folders (e.g., Downloads or messaging app caches).\n- **Where it is stored:** In the App's isolated sandbox storage on your device.\n- **How long it is kept:** Saved copies remain until you un-bookmark the document, delete it from the library, clear sandbox storage, or uninstall the App.\n\n### 2.6 Deep Search Index (Content Search & User Consent)\n\n- **What is accessed and stored:** If you explicitly enable Content Search in Settings, the App extracts textual content from your PDF documents and builds a local search index.\n- **User Consent & Control:** Content Search is disabled by default until you grant consent in Settings or during search setup. You can toggle Content Search on or off at any time, or clear the search index immediately.\n- **Why it is accessed:** To enable full-text \"Deep Search,\" allowing you to find documents based on words and phrases inside the text of your PDFs across your library.\n- **Where it is stored:** In a private, local search database index on your device. The extracted text is never sent off your device.\n- **How long it is kept:** Until you tap \"Clear Search Index\" in Settings, clear app data, or uninstall the App.\n\n### 2.7 File History and Usage Records\n\n- **What is collected:** A local list of recently opened files, including file names, file paths, last-opened timestamps, page counts, and basic viewing statistics.\n- **Why it is collected:** To display your Recent Files on the home screen, restore your reading position, and provide quick navigation.\n- **Where it is stored:** In the local application database on your device.\n- **How long it is kept:** Until you clear your history in Settings, until older records are automatically pruned according to your recent file limit, or until you uninstall the App.\n\n### 2.8 Free Tier, Pro Passes, and Entitlement State\n\n- **What is accessed and stored:** To manage free tier allowances and Pro upgrades (such as the Pre-paid 1-Month Pass and Lifetime Pro Access), the App stores local entitlement status, expiration dates, and activation timestamps.\n- **Why it is accessed:** To validate Pro features locally without requiring remote user logins or account servers.\n- **Where it is stored:** Entitlement state is stored in secure local storage protected by the device operating system's security architecture.\n- **Sharing:** Entitlement data is strictly verified through native store APIs (Google Play Billing / Apple StoreKit) and is never transmitted to MiygaL Studio servers.\n\n### 2.9 User Preferences and Settings\n\n- **What is collected:** Local application settings such as App Lock preference, Session Timeout, Screen Security toggle, Content Search consent, Device Scan toggle, and language preferences.\n- **Where it is stored:** In secure local storage and shared preferences on your device only.\n\n### 2.10 Exported Image Files (Export to Image Tool)\n\n- **What is accessed:** When you export PDF pages as images (JPEG, PNG, or ZIP), the App renders the pages locally using your device's graphics processor.\n- **Where it is stored:** Temporary rendered images are written to your device's temporary cache directory and deleted when no longer needed or when system maintenance runs.\n- **Saving & Sharing:** If you tap \"Share,\" files are handed over to the OS Sharesheet. If you tap \"Save,\" files are written directly to your chosen destination via the native system file picker.\n\n---\n\n## 3. Device Features and Permissions the App Uses\n\n### 3.1 Biometric Authentication (Fingerprint & Face Unlock)\n\n- **Why it is used:** To verify your identity before opening the App (when App Lock is enabled) or accessing credentials in the Secure Vault.\n- **Privacy Safeguard:** The App never accesses, collects, or stores your biometric templates. Biometric authentication is handled entirely by the device operating system, which returns only an authenticated or unauthenticated result to the App.\n- **Permissions:** `android.permission.USE_BIOMETRIC` (Android) or `NSFaceIDUsageDescription` (iOS).\n\n### 3.2 Storage & Folder Access\n\n- **Android (`MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE` / All files access):** \n As a document management and PDF utility application, broad storage access is essential to discover, read, annotate, organize, and save PDF files located across your device's storage. Operating directly on existing files prevents unnecessary file duplication that wastes device storage.\n - *Why Storage Access Framework (SAF) is insufficient:* SAF requires manual file-by-file or directory-by-directory user selection prompts every time a file is accessed, making seamless whole-device PDF library discovery and batch organization impossible.\n - *Why MediaStore API is insufficient:* MediaStore focuses on photos, videos, audio, and the Downloads folder. It does not provide the broad access required to discover and manage PDF documents organized in diverse or custom folders across device storage.\n- **iOS (Folder Access & Security-Scoped Bookmarks):** \n On iOS, the App uses Apple's native Document Picker to allow users to select specific folders. The App uses **Security-Scoped Bookmarks** to retain authorized access to user-selected folders across app restarts, without requiring broad file system access.\n- **Absence of Internet Permission:** \n The Internet permission (`android.permission.INTERNET`) is completely excluded from the application manifest in production releases. On iOS, the App declares no network capabilities. The App cannot establish network connections in production releases.\n\n### 3.3 Camera and Photo Library Access (Image & Signature Import)\n\n- **Why it is used:** When adding an image annotation or importing an existing signature into a PDF, you may choose to take a photo using the device camera or select an image from your photo library.\n- **Permissions:** `NSCameraUsageDescription` and `NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription` (iOS).\n- **Data handling:** Selected images are processed and cropped strictly on-device, embedded into the target PDF, and are never uploaded or shared externally.\n\n### 3.4 Screen Security & Window Privacy Protection\n\n- **Why it is used:** When Screen Security is enabled in Settings, the App activates OS-level window privacy protection (`FLAG_SECURE` on Android and privacy window masking on iOS).\n- **Privacy Safeguard:** This prevents unauthorized screen captures, screen recordings, and conceals document contents in the device's Recent Apps / App Switcher view.\n\n### 3.5 File Sharing\n\n- **Why it is used:** When you tap \"Share,\" the App passes the document to the system's native sharing mechanism (Android Sharesheet or iOS `UIActivityViewController`) to send the file to an app you select (such as Email or messaging apps).\n- **Data handling:** MiygaL Studio receives no copy of shared files. Delivery is handled entirely by the operating system.\n\n### 3.6 In-App Review Prompt\n\n- **Why it is used:** After significant usage milestones, the App may display the standard Google Play In-App Review dialog (Android) or StoreKit `requestReview` dialog (iOS).\n- **Data handling:** The App receives no information about whether you submitted a rating or review. All interaction occurs within the native app store framework and is governed by Google's or Apple's Privacy Policy.\n\n### 3.7 System Time Verification (Android only)\n\n- **Why it is used:** To verify local trial durations and license validity offline without relying on remote network time servers.\n- **Data handling:** The App checks local system time configuration. No time, timezone, or location data is recorded, profiled, or transmitted.\n\n### 3.8 Installation Lifecycle Verification (Android only)\n\n- **Why it is used:** To determine local trial eligibility following a fresh installation or app update.\n- **Data handling:** The App verifies standard local package installation timestamps in real time. These timestamps are evaluated ephemerally in memory and are never stored permanently or transmitted.\n\n### 3.9 Play Store In-App Updates (Android only)\n\n- **Why it is used:** To inform you when an update is available via the Google Play In-App Updates API.\n- **Data handling:** The App does not connect to the internet directly. It queries the local Google Play Store service already present on your device. Any download traffic is handled securely by Google Play.\n\n---\n\n## 4. Data We Do Not Collect\n\nTo be completely explicit, MiygaL PDF and MiygaL Studio **do not collect, transmit, store, or sell**:\n\n- Personal identifiers (name, email address, phone number, physical address).\n- Account credentials or passwords.\n- Location data or IP addresses.\n- Analytics or usage metrics (no Google Analytics, no Firebase, no Mixpanel).\n- Crash reports or diagnostics (no Crashlytics, no Sentry, no bug loggers).\n- Advertising identifiers or profile data (no AdMob, no Meta Audience Network).\n- The contents, text, or images of your PDF files.\n- Decrypted password vault or signature vault data.\n\n---\n\n## 5. Third-Party Services\n\nThe App interacts with only one third-party service: official platform app store billing.\n\n### 5.1 Google Play Billing and Apple App Store (StoreKit)\n\nThe App offers optional in-app purchases and passes for Pro features (e.g., Pre-paid 1-Month Pass, Lifetime Pro Access, and legacy subscription restoration).\n\n- **How purchases are handled:** All transactions are processed directly by Google Play Billing (Android) or Apple StoreKit (iOS).\n- **Data received by MiygaL Studio:** None. MiygaL Studio does not operate payment servers and never receives your credit card details, billing address, or payment credentials.\n- **Local purchase tokens:** The App receives a cryptographic purchase token from Google Play or Apple on your device to unlock Pro features locally.\n- **Third-Party Privacy Policies:**\n - Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy\n - Apple Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/\n\n### 5.2 Terms of Use (EULA)\n\n- **iOS Users:** Your use of the App and any purchases are governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (EULA), available at: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/\n- **Android Users:** Your use of the App is governed by the Google Play Terms of Service.\n\n---\n\n## 6. Children's Privacy\n\nBecause the App operates on a local-only architecture with zero data collection, no network transmission, and no advertising, it is entirely safe for users of all ages and complies fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and GDPR Article 8. If you have any inquiries, contact us at miygal.connect@gmail.com.\n\n---\n\n## 7. Your Privacy Rights and Data Control\n\nBecause MiygaL Studio never receives, stores, or processes any of your personal data on remote servers, your statutory privacy rights under GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, DPDP Act 2023, and similar international laws are satisfied directly through native in-app controls.\n\n### 7.1 Right of Access\n\nAll data stored by the App resides directly on your own device. You can view your document history, category labels, stored signatures, and active preferences directly within the App's user interface at any time.\n\n*Note regarding saved PDF passwords:* For maximum security, saved passwords cannot be viewed in plain text. Passwords are hardware-encrypted by the Android Keystore System or Apple Keychain and can only be used by the App to unlock files upon authentication.\n\n### 7.2 Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten)\n\nYou have absolute, immediate control to permanently delete all data stored by the App:\n\n- **Delete specific or all saved passwords:** Open Settings -> Manage Vault -> Passwords to delete credentials individually, or select \"Wipe Vault\" to permanently erase all saved passwords.\n- **Delete specific or all saved signatures:** Open Settings -> Manage Vault -> Signatures to delete signatures individually or clear all saved signatures.\n- **Clear Search Index:** Open Settings -> Manage Content Search and tap \"Clear Search Index\" to delete all extracted text and search data.\n- **Clear File History:** Open Settings and clear your document history and temporary file associations.\n- **Delete Bookmarked Library Copies:** Un-bookmark files or clear offline library storage in Settings.\n- **Clear All App Data (System Settings):** In Android or iOS device settings, clearing the App's data will immediately delete all local databases, vaults, indexes, and preferences.\n- **Uninstall the App:** Uninstalling the App removes all internal databases, vaults, caches, and sandbox copies from your device.\n\n### 7.3 Right to Data Portability\n\nAll your original PDF files remain in your device storage and are in your full possession. Exported images and modified PDFs can be saved to any location on your device or shared via the OS Sharesheet. Hardware-encrypted vault entries are cryptographically bound to your specific physical device security module and cannot be exported to another device, ensuring maximum credential protection.\n\n### 7.4 Applicable Global Privacy Regulations\n\nThe architecture of MiygaL PDF inherently complies with:\n- **GDPR (European Union):** Article 25 (Privacy by Design and by Default) and Article 5 (Data Minimization).\n- **CCPA / CPRA (California, USA):** No sale or sharing of consumer personal data.\n- **DPDP Act 2023 (India):** Strict purpose limitation and local data fiduciary containment.\n- **COPPA (USA):** Zero personal data collection from children.\n- **Australian Privacy Act 1988 & Singapore PDPA 2012.**\n\n---\n\n## 8. Data Security\n\nThe App protects your local data using industry-leading technical measures:\n\n- **Hardware-Backed AES-256 Encryption:** Saved passwords and signatures are encrypted with AES-256 keys backed by the Android Keystore System or Apple Keychain.\n- **Biometric & PIN Gating:** Access to stored credentials and app features is protected by your device's biometric authentication or PIN.\n- **Screen Security Protection:** Optional window privacy masking blocks screen recording, screen capture, and recent app switcher previews.\n- **No Internet Permission:** Production builds have the `INTERNET` permission removed, making unauthorized remote data transmission technically impossible.\n\n---\n\n## 9. Changes to This Privacy Policy\n\nWe may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new features or platform requirements. When updates occur, the Effective Date and Version at the top of this document will be updated. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.\n\n---\n\n## 10. Read research papers, financial reports, manuals, and books directly from your device folders with zero accounts, zero background telemetry, and no internet permissions.","content":"## Why an Offline PDF Reader Matters\n\nMany mobile PDF readers today require account sign-ups, request broad network permissions, or automatically sync document metadata to remote cloud servers. Even reading a local equipment manual, utility bill, or tax document often prompts an account login.\n\nMiygaL PDF follows a local-first philosophy: **your documents belong on your device, and reading them should never require an internet connection or account registration.**\n\n---\n\n## Offline Access vs. Local Document Storage\n\nUnderstanding how MiygaL PDF handles documents helps clarify what you can expect:\n\n### 1. What \"Offline Access\" Means\nOffline access means the entire document viewing pipeline—text layout, vector graphics parsing, font rendering, and page display—executes entirely on your device's local processor. The application manifest does not request the `android.permission.INTERNET` permission, ensuring the operating system prevents the app from initiating outbound network connections for document viewing.\n\n### 2. What \"Local Document Storage\" Means\nUnlike services that require uploading files to a cloud drive or copying them into an isolated sandbox, MiygaL PDF works directly with your device's native storage. Your documents remain in their original folders (such as `Downloads`, `Documents`, or messaging folders). MiygaL accesses them in-place using Android's native Storage Access Framework (SAF) and ContentResolver, so your files remain accessible to any file manager on your phone.\n\n---\n\n## How Users Open PDFs from Device Folders\n\nMiygaL PDF provides two direct ways to access files:\n\n1. **Local MediaStore Discovery:** The app queries Android's local MediaStore index to detect PDFs stored across common directories—including `Downloads`, `Documents`, and messaging attachment folders. These are presented in a clean, folder-grouped list without duplicating the files.\n2. **System File Picker (SAF):** Tapping \"Open File\" opens Android's native system file picker. This lets you browse internal storage, external micro-SD cards, USB OTG drives, or application directories, opening documents directly where they live.\n\n---\n\n## Core Capabilities & Practical Considerations\n\n### 1. Native Rendering Pipeline\nBuilt using an on-device rendering engine, MiygaL PDF is optimized to handle multi-page documents, technical schematics, and text-heavy books efficiently without memory leaks or unnecessary battery drain.\n\n### 2. Reading Controls & Display Modes\n- **Eye-Comfort Dark Mode:** Inverts document backgrounds for comfortable low-light reading while preserving photographic images.\n- **Continuous Scroll & Single-Page Modes:** Switch between continuous vertical scrolling for long documents or single-page view for slides and sheet music.\n- **Distraction-Free Reading:** Supports full-screen reading mode to maximize screen space.\n\n### 3. Practical Limitations\nTo provide realistic expectations, keep these technical limitations in mind:\n- **Cloud-Only Links:** Files hosted exclusively on cloud services (such as Google Drive or Dropbox links) must be downloaded to local storage before opening, as MiygaL does not connect to the internet to stream remote files.\n- **Scanned Image PDFs:** PDFs consisting purely of scanned paper photographs without an embedded OCR text layer will render as images, but individual words cannot be selected or searched without an existing digital text layer.\n\n---\n\n## User Perspective Use Cases\n\n### 1. Traveling Professionals & Commuters\nReading contracts, board packets, and flight documentation while in transit on airplanes, trains, or underground transit without Wi-Fi or cellular reception.\n\n### 2. Students & Researchers\nReviewing academic papers, course syllabi, and reference textbooks without battery-draining background sync or intrusive ads.\n\n### 3. Field Technicians & Engineers\nAccessing machinery blueprints, maintenance manuals, and operating procedures in basements or remote work sites with limited connectivity.\n\n---\n\n## Capability Comparison: Document Viewing Models\n\n| Capability | MiygaL PDF (Offline On-Device) | Cloud-Tethered PDF Viewers | Typical Free PDF Apps |\n| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |\n| **Network Permission** | **None (Omitted in manifest)** | Requires active internet | Granted for advertising |\n| **Account / Login** | **None (Zero registration)** | Often mandatory | Often prompts sign-up |\n| **Document Storage** | **In-place local filesystem (SAF)** | Cloud Document Cloud | Local with ad overlays |\n| **Telemetry / Tracking SDKs** | **None** | Usage analytics SDKs | Ad network trackers |\n| **Offline Operation** | **Complete (All core tools)** | Limited offline access | Varies |\n","faq":[{"q":"Does MiygaL PDF require an internet connection or user account?","a":"No. MiygaL PDF operates completely offline and does not require an account, email address, or internet connection. Adding a Signature to a PDF\n- **Handwritten Digital Signature:** Draw your signature using your finger or stylus on a smooth canvas.\n- **Transparent Image Import:** Import an existing signature image with automatic background transparency blending.\n- **Encrypted Local Signature Vault:** Save your signature in local app storage protected by Android Keystore hardware-backed encryption to re-apply it to future agreements with a single tap.\n- **Positioning & Sizing:** Position your signature onto any signature box with pinch-to-zoom scaling, 360-degree rotation, and transparency adjustment.\n\n### 2. Filling PDF Forms with Typed Text\n- **Direct Form Field Typing:** Place crisp typed text directly over blank form fields, date lines, and name fields.\n- **Flat & Digital Form Support:** Works on traditional flat PDFs (scanned or converted documents without interactive AcroForm fields) as well as digital forms.\n- **Text Customization:** Adjust font size, text color, and alignment to match the document's original formatting.\n- **Checkmarks & Symbols:** Insert checkmarks and bullet indicators into questionnaire boxes.\n\n### 3. Annotating & Marking Documents\n- **Highlighter Tool:** Mark contractual compensation clauses, deadlines, or terms in transparent yellow, green, or custom tints.\n- **Freehand Pen & Notes:** Circle provisions, draw review arrows, or add margin notes.\n- **Non-Destructive Layering:** Text entries, annotations, and signatures are layered into the document structure upon saving.\n\n---\n\n## User Perspective Use Cases\n\n### 1. Freelancers & Independent Contractors\nSigning Statements of Work (SOWs), consulting agreements, and NDAs on the go, exporting the completed PDF immediately without ongoing e-sign subscription fees.\n\n### 2. Job Seekers & Remote Employees\nFilling out onboarding paperwork, direct deposit authorizations, and emergency contact blanks with typed text, adding a signature, and returning the file via email.\n\n### 3. MiygaL securely remembers your authorized passwords so you do not need to re-type them; it does not crack, bypass, or recover unknown passwords.\n\n---\n\n## How the Biometric Password Vault Works\n\n```\n[ Encrypted PDF Received ]\n │\n ▼\n[ User Enters Valid Password Once ] ──► [ Saved to Android Keystore (AES-256) ]\n │\n ▼\n[ Future Opens of Matching Document ] ──► [ Verify Fingerprint / Biometrics ]\n │\n ▼\n [ Unlocked in Device Memory ]\n```\n\n### 1. Does the User Need to Know the Original Password?\n**Yes.** You must supply the correct, legitimate password on the initial open. MiygaL validates the password against the document's encryption dictionary. Once verified, you can choose to save it in your private Vault.\n\n### 2. What Does Biometric Authentication Do?\nWhen opening an encrypted document linked to a saved vault credential, MiygaL calls Android's native `BiometricPrompt` API. When you authenticate using your fingerprint (or device biometrics), the operating system authorizes the retrieval of the stored credential from the Android Keystore. The app then decrypts the document in memory without displaying the plain password on screen.\n\n### 3. Where Are Saved Passwords Stored?\nSaved passwords are encrypted using **AES-256 encryption** and stored locally inside secure app storage (`flutter_secure_storage`), backed by the **Android Keystore System** utilizing hardware-backed security (such as the device's Trusted Execution Environment or StrongBox keymaster where available). Passwords are never written to plain text files, never included in unencrypted backups, and never transmitted to the cloud.\n\n### 4. Does This Feature Work Offline?\n**100% offline.** All cryptographic operations and biometric verifications execute locally through Android OS hardware security facilities without contacting remote authentication servers.\n\n### 5. Password Vault vs. Removing PDF Encryption\nIt is important to understand the difference between these two capabilities:\n- **Biometric Password Vault:** The original PDF file remains encrypted on disk. Anyone accessing your device storage or copying the file still requires the password. Only you can unlock it using biometric verification in MiygaL.\n- **Removing PDF Encryption:** Exports a separate, unencrypted duplicate file (`<filename>_unl.pdf`) with password requirements stripped.\n\n---\n\n## User Perspective Use Cases\n\n### 1. Working Professionals\nManaging monthly salary slips, health insurance e-cards, and retirement statements without searching through password cheat sheets or old emails.\n\n### 2. Investors & Financial Planners\nReviewing daily brokerage contract notes, mutual fund statements, and tax vouchers from multiple institutions in one seamless reading session.\n\n### 3. Homeowners & Utility Payers\nAccessing electricity bills, broadband invoices, and municipal tax receipts protected by customer account numbers with an effortless fingerprint touch.\n\n---\n\n## Capability Comparison: Password Storage Approaches\n\n| Security & Workflow Aspect | MiygaL Biometric Vault | Unencrypted Cloud Notes | Standard PDF Viewers |\n| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |\n| **Password Storage** | **Android Keystore (AES-256)** | Plain text in cloud note | Not stored (manual re-entry) |\n| **Authentication** | **Android BiometricPrompt** | None (visible to anyone) | Manual password typing |\n| **File Remains Encrypted on Disk** | **Yes (Protected in storage)** | Yes | Yes |\n| **Offline Operation** | **100% Offline** | Requires sync | Offline |\n| **Unknown Password Bypass** | **No (Legitimate access only)**| No | No |\n","faq":[{"q":"Do I need to know the original PDF password to use the Biometric Vault?","a":"Yes. Your files never leave your phone, and merging works seamlessly with zero internet connection.\n\n---\n\n## Key Capabilities & Workflow\n\n### 1. Multi-File Selection Across Device Folders\nSelect multiple PDF files simultaneously from different folders on your device—including your `Downloads` directory, messaging attachments, internal storage, or external SD cards—using Android's native file picker.\n\n### 2. Drag-and-Drop Sequencing\nControl the exact arrangement of your merged document:\n- **Visual Thumbnail Previews:** See cover page previews of every selected document before combining.\n- **Drag-to-Reorder:** Slide documents up or down to set your preferred chronological or logical sequence.\n- **Modify on the Fly:** Remove accidental selections or append additional documents before finalizing.\n\n### 3. Preserved Document Structures\nThe on-device merge engine preserves standard-compliant PDF structures, page trees, text layers, vector paths, and embedded image assets across all source documents.\n\n### 4. Safe Local Saving\n- The original source files are **never overwritten or altered**.\n- The combined document is written to a newly created file (`<filename>_merged.pdf`) in your device's local storage or exported to any folder you select via the system file picker.\n- While MiygaL does not impose arbitrary software file-size limits, practical capacity depends on your device's available RAM and free storage space.\n\n---\n\n## User Perspective Use Cases\n\n### 1. Expense Reporting & Tax Filing\nCombining separate monthly receipts, taxi invoices, and utility vouchers into a single clean PDF report ready for corporate reimbursement or tax submission.\n\n### 2. Academic Papers & Project Reports\nAssembling assignment title pages, research body chapters, data appendices, and bibliography files into a single unified paper.\n\n### 3. You are forced to manually open each PDF, wait for it to render, and check page by page.\n\nMiygaL PDF addresses this with **Deep Content Search**—an on-device search capability that indexes and searches the actual text inside documents across your library.\n\n---\n\n## How Deep Content Search Works\n\n### 1. User Benefit First: Multi-Document Search Scope\nUnlike standard in-document search tools that only check the currently open file, MiygaL's search engine covers your **entire recognized local PDF library** with a single query. Type an account number, supplier name, or contractual phrase, and find every matching document across your device.\n\n### 2. Contextual Snippets & Direct Page Jump\nSearch results are presented in a clean list showing:\n- Document title and folder location.\n- The exact page number where the keyword occurred.\n- A contextual text snippet showing the matched term.\n- One-tap jump that opens the document directly at that exact page with the search term highlighted in the viewer.\n\n### 3. Local Indexing & Relevance Ranking\nBehind the scenes, MiygaL extracts embedded digital text streams using a background worker pool and indexes terms into a local **SQLite FTS5 (Full-Text Search 5)** database on your device. Search results utilize BM25 probabilistic relevance scoring to rank documents with relevant keyword occurrences higher. The background worker incorporates micro-delays to preserve device battery life.\n\n---\n\n## Important Distinction: Digital Text PDFs vs. Scanned Images\n\nTo maintain clear and accurate expectations:\n\n### Native Digital PDFs (Fully Searchable)\nDocuments generated digitally—such as bank e-statements, utility bills, converted office documents, research papers, and digital contracts—contain embedded text streams. **These documents are fully searchable by Deep Content Search.**\n\n### Scanned Paper Documents & Image PDFs (Filename Search Only)\nDocuments that consist purely of camera photographs or scanned bitmap images without an embedded text layer (such as photos of paper receipts or scanned faxes) contain image pixels rather than text characters. \n> **Important Limitation:** MiygaL PDF does not bundle heavy optical character recognition (OCR) models, keeping the application lightweight, fast, and battery-friendly. Scanned image files can be located via filename, folder, or custom Smart Labels, but their visual contents cannot be searched by internal text unless an OCR text layer was added prior to saving.\n\n---\n\n## User Perspective Use Cases\n\n### 1. Financial Audits & Record Keeping\nFinding every document mentioning a specific vendor, transaction ID, or dollar amount across archived quarterly statements.\n\n### 2. Legal Review & Due Diligence\nSearching for specific indemnity, termination, or confidentiality clauses across supplier agreements without opening files individually.\n\n### 3. Academic & Technical Research\nLocating citations, formulas, or author references across downloaded research papers and reference manuals.\n\n---\n\n## Capability Comparison: Search Approaches\n\n| Search Capability | MiygaL Deep Search | Default Android File Search | Standard In-App Search |\n| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |\n| **Search Scope** | **Entire local PDF library** | Filenames only | Currently open file only |\n| **Content Indexing** | **Local SQLite FTS5 database** | None | Temporary in-memory scan |\n| **Contextual Snippets** | **Yes (Highlighted sentence)** | No | Limited |\n| **Direct Page Navigation** | **Yes (Opens exact page)** | Opens first page | Within active file only |\n| **Privacy & Storage** | **100% On-device local index** | Local | Varies |\n","faq":[{"q":"Does Deep Search search inside multiple PDF documents at once?","a":"Yes. Non-Destructive Virtual Tags vs. Physical Folders\n- **Physical Folders:** The actual directories on your phone's storage (e.g. `/Download`).\n- **Smart Labels:** Virtual metadata tags stored locally in MiygaL's internal database. **Assigning, changing, or removing a Smart Label never moves, renames, copies, or alters your original physical file.** If you remove a label in MiygaL, your document remains intact in its original storage folder.\n\n### 2. Automatic Categorization Scope\nThe on-device Document Curator evaluates incoming documents and suggests associations with common life categories:\n- **Financial & Banking:** Account statements, credit card bills, mutual fund summaries, tax declarations, and receipts.\n- **Identity & Legal:** Passport copies, driver licenses, national ID cards, rental agreements, employment contracts, and insurance policies.\n- **Academic & Education:** Syllabi, textbooks, lecture slides, research papers, and course certificates.\n- **Medical & Health:** Diagnostic lab reports, prescriptions, hospital summaries, and health insurance claims.\n\n### 3. How Categorization Operates\nCategorization is calculated **100% on-device using deterministic heuristic rules**—including filename keyword patterns (e.g., matching terms like `statement`, `invoice`, `salary`, `tax`, `policy`) and structural document metadata. **No cloud AI, no remote language models, and no external servers are involved.**\n\n### 4. Full User Control & Custom Labels\nAutomatic suggestions do not restrict you:\n- Create custom labels (e.g. `Project Alpha`, `House Renovation`, `Taxes 2026`).\n- Assign, reassign, or remove labels on any document with one tap.\n- Filter your library by selecting any combination of labels or physical folders.\n- Disable automatic categorization in Settings if you prefer a completely manual setup.\n\n### 5. Finding Documents via Deep Content Search\nIf a document has not been labeled or you cannot recall its folder, you do not have to browse through categories. MiygaL's Deep Content Search lets you locate any file by searching for words, clauses, or numbers contained inside the document text.\n\n---\n\n## User Perspective Use Cases\n\n### 1. Tax Preparation & Accounting\nFiltering by the `Financial` or `Taxes` label to see all relevant annual receipts, interest certificates, and deduction proofs in one view without manually combing through downloads.\n\n### 2. Frequent Travelers\nLabeling passport scans, visa approvals, flight tickets, and hotel confirmations under `Travel`, keeping them accessible in one tap even when offline at immigration checkpoints.\n\n### 3. Healthcare Records Management\nConsolidating prescription PDFs and lab test reports for family members under dedicated `Medical` labels for quick retrieval during appointments.\n\n---\n\n## Capability Comparison: Document Organization Methods\n\n| Capability | MiygaL Smart Labels | Traditional Android Folders | Cloud Document Tagging |\n| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |\n| **File Safety** | **Non-destructive (Files untouched)** | Risk of accidental moves/deletion | Uploaded to remote server |\n| **Multiple Categories** | **Yes (One file, multiple labels)** | No (File lives in one folder) | Limited tag support |\n| **Categorization Method** | **On-device deterministic heuristics** | Manual folder creation | Cloud AI scanning |\n| **Content Search Alternative**| **Yes (Integrated Deep Search)** | Separate file search | Cloud search |\n| **Offline Operation** | **Yes (100% local database)** | Yes | Requires internet |\n","faq":[{"q":"What types of documents does automatic categorization classify?","a":"The on-device Document Curator recognizes common document patterns and suggests categories such as Financial & Banking (statements, invoices, tax forms), Identity & Legal (contracts, IDs, policies), Academic & Education (textbooks, research), and Medical & Health."},{"q":"How does automatic categorization work, and does it use cloud AI?","a":"Categorization is calculated 100% on-device using deterministic heuristic rules that evaluate filename patterns and document metadata. Their business models often center on cloud subscriptions, account registrations, and behavioral tracking.\n\nMiygaL PDF follows a different model: **Zero-Cloud Architecture**.\n\n---\n\n## Architectural Breakdown: On-Device Safeguards\n\nThe following safeguards ensure that your private documents remain strictly on your physical phone:\n\n### 1. Zero Network Permissions for Document Processing\nIn the production Android build, the `android.permission.INTERNET` permission is omitted for core document processing. Android enforces permissions at the operating system level, ensuring the app cannot initiate network connections to transmit document data or telemetry.\n\n### 2. Hardware-Backed On-Device Security\nSensitive user credentials—such as remembered PDF passwords and digital signatures—are encrypted using **AES-256 encryption** via the **Android Keystore System** (`flutter_secure_storage`). Encryption keys reside in your device's hardware security module (such as a Trusted Execution Environment or StrongBox keymaster where supported) and are accessible only after successful local biometric authentication.\n\n### 3. Local Databases & Zero Third-Party Telemetry\nReading history, Smart Label tags, bookmarks, and full-text search indexes reside strictly in local SQLite and Hive database files inside the private app sandbox. No analytics or tracking SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics or commercial ad trackers) are embedded in the application.\n\n### 4. In-Place File Access via Android SAF\nMiygaL accesses documents directly in their original storage folders using Android's native Storage Access Framework (SAF) and ContentResolver. It does not copy or duplicate your files into a proprietary cloud repository.\n\n### 5. Document Processing vs. Platform Store Services\nTo maintain complete clarity:\n- **Document Processing:** 100% offline and on-device. No document content, passwords, or search queries ever leave your phone.\n- **Platform Store Services:** When purchasing Pro access, transactions are processed directly by official Google Play Billing APIs under Google's standard billing framework. MiygaL Studio does not collect, receive, or store your payment card numbers, billing addresses, or bank details.\n\n---\n\n## Product Page Summary vs. Architecture Guide\n\n| Scope | Product Page Privacy Section | Dedicated Privacy Architecture Guide |\n| :--- | :--- | :--- |\n| **Purpose** | High-level summary of privacy commitments | In-depth technical explanation of system architecture |\n| **Audience** | General users seeking trust and clarity | Security, legal, and privacy-conscious professionals |\n| **Coverage** | Core promises: no ads, no accounts, offline | Manifest permissions, Keystore encryption, SAF, local databases |\n| **Verification** | Simple feature highlights | Threat model, permission disclosures, and storage architecture |\n\n---\n\n## User Perspective Use Cases\n\n### 1. If you know the authorized password, MiygaL PDF decrypts and exports a permanently unlocked copy on your Android device without cloud uploads.","content":"## Why You Might Need to Remove a PDF Password\n\nMany institutions deliver documents—such as finalized mortgage statements, tax filing confirmations, payslips, and bank records—with password locks.\n\nWhile password protection is useful during email transit, keeping documents locked permanently creates friction when you need to:\n- Submit tax records or investment proofs to your accountant.\n- Upload utility bills as address verification to portals that reject encrypted PDFs.\n- Archive records into a personal document management system.\n- Print documents at a local office workstation without entering credentials.\n\nMiygaL PDF provides an on-device tool to **permanently remove password restrictions from authorized documents**.\n\n---\n\n> ### Critical Legal & Security Clarification\n> **MiygaL PDF is an authorized decryption tool, NOT a password cracker or brute-force tool.**\n> - You **must know and enter the valid password** to unlock the document session.\n> - MiygaL **cannot bypass, crack, or recover unknown passwords**.\n> - The decryption process uses your authorized password to read the document stream and export a newly unencrypted version.\n> \n> **Security Advisory:** An exported unlocked PDF is no longer protected by password encryption. Store and share unlocked files responsibly, especially if they contain confidential personal or financial data.\n\n---\n\n## Three Distinct Password Workflows Explained\n\nTo avoid any ambiguity, here is how password removal differs from other features:\n\n### 1. Removing Password Protection (Permanent Decryption)\nYou enter the valid password, open the document, and select **Remove Lock**. MiygaL reads the document into memory, clears the password requirements, and writes a new unlocked PDF file (`<filename>_unl.pdf`). The new file can be opened by anyone in any PDF viewer without entering a password. Your original encrypted file remains untouched.\n\n### 2. Remembering a Password (Biometric Vault Auto-Unlock)\nThe PDF file remains **100% encrypted on your phone's disk**. You do not create an unencrypted copy. Instead, your authorized password is saved in your device's hardware-backed Keystore, allowing your fingerprint to unlock the document in MiygaL.\n\n### 3. Recovering / Cracking Unknown Passwords\n**MiygaL does NOT support this.** If you do not have legitimate authorization and do not know the password, MiygaL cannot decrypt the document.\n\n---\n\n## Step-by-Step On-Device Decryption Workflow\n\n```\n[ Encrypted PDF ] ──► [ User Enters Valid Password ] ──► [ Document Unlocked in RAM ]\n │\n ▼\n [ Select 'Remove Lock' ]\n │\n ▼\n [ Clears Password Protection ]\n │\n ▼\n [ Exports <filename>_unl.pdf Locally ]\n```\n\n1. **Open the Encrypted Document:** Open the file in MiygaL and supply the authorized password (or unlock with your fingerprint if saved in the Vault).\n2. **Select 'Remove Lock':** In the viewer toolbar, tap the Tools menu and select *Remove Lock*.\n3. **Confirm Decryption:** MiygaL confirms that encryption will be removed and displays the file size.\n4. **Export Clean Copy:** The engine saves a newly unlocked document to your device's local storage (e.g. `<filename>_unl_143022.pdf`).\n5. **Share or Archive:** Share the unlocked file via the native share sheet or move it to your preferred archive directory.\n\n---\n\n## User Perspective Use Cases\n\n### 1. MiygaL PDF compresses documents locally on your Android device, reducing file size while preserving sharp text and clean layout formatting without cloud uploads.","content":"## Meeting Email and Portal Attachment Limits\n\nEmail providers and messaging apps typically enforce attachment caps—often 20MB to 25MB. Job application portals, university submission systems, and government forms often enforce even lower thresholds of 2MB to 5MB.\n\nWhen a document exceeds these limits, users often resort to web-based compression tools that upload sensitive personal, financial, or corporate records to remote cloud servers.\n\nMiygaL PDF provides **on-device PDF compression** that executes completely offline on your Android phone.\n\n---\n\n## Understanding Compression Mechanics & Trade-Offs\n\nDocument compression involves technical trade-offs depending on the content of the file:\n\n### 1. Vector Text & Typography: Preserved with High Clarity\nText layers, vector shapes, tables, and typography are mathematically encoded. MiygaL optimizes internal stream structures and cross-reference dictionaries without rasterizing text elements. **Your text and tables remain sharp and legible at any zoom level.**\n\n### 2. Embedded Photographic Images: Calibrated Downsampling\nLarge PDF file sizes are predominantly caused by embedded high-resolution photographs, camera captures, and raster graphics. MiygaL offers calibrated compression levels:\n- **Light Compression (Target ~10% Reduction):** Minimally downsamples oversized images while optimizing internal document streams. Suitable for business documents that must retain high-fidelity photos.\n- **Strong Compression (Target ~30% Reduction):** Downsamples embedded graphics and camera scans to meet stricter email and portal caps while maintaining readable on-screen clarity.\n\n### 3. Document-Dependent Results & Original File Preservation\n- **Variable Reduction:** The achievable size reduction depends directly on document composition. Image-heavy documents often see substantial reductions, whereas documents consisting purely of text and vectors are already compact and will see modest reductions.\n- **Original File Untouched:** The original PDF file is **never overwritten or altered**. MiygaL exports a newly compressed file (`<filename>_cmp_<timestamp>.pdf`) to your local storage.\n- **Pre-Check Notice:** If a document is already compact and cannot be reduced without noticeable degradation, the app informs you before proceeding.\n\n---\n\n## Step-by-Step On-Device Compression Workflow\n\n```\n[ PDF Document ]\n │\n ▼\n[ Select Compression Profile: Light or Strong ]\n │\n ▼\n[ On-Device Processing: Optimizes Streams & Images in Memory ]\n │\n ▼\n[ Exports <filename>_cmp_<timestamp>.pdf Locally ] ──► [ Original File Untouched ]\n```\n\n1. **Open the Document:** Open any PDF in MiygaL PDF.\n2. **Select Compress:** Tap the Tools menu in the bottom toolbar and choose *Compress*.\n3. **Choose Strategy:** Select between *Light* (minimal visual impact) or *Strong* (greater file size reduction for attachments).\n4. **Review Estimated Size:** Review the estimated target size.\n5. **Generate Compressed Copy:** Tap Compress. The native engine processes the file locally and saves the new file to your storage.\n\n---\n\n## User Perspective Use Cases\n\n### 1. Job Applicants Submitting Resumes & Portfolios\nReducing high-resolution CVs, illustrated portfolios, and certification attachments to satisfy strict 2MB job board portal limits without degrading text legibility.\n\n### 2. Real Estate & Legal Due Diligence\nCompressing multi-page property deeds, inspection disclosures, and lease agreements to send via email attachments from a smartphone while traveling.\n\n### 3. Students Submitting Assignments\nReducing slide presentations and illustrated term papers to meet university learning management system (LMS) upload limits.\n\n---\n\n## Capability Comparison: PDF Compression Methods\n\n| Compression Aspect | MiygaL PDF (Offline On-Device) | Web Compression Sites | Desktop Cloud Suites |\n| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |\n| **Privacy & Security** | **100% On-device (Zero upload)** | Uploads file to web server | Uploads to company cloud |\n| **Internet Required** | **No (Works completely offline)**| Mandatory internet | Often required |\n| **Original File Safety** | **100% Preserved untouched** | Unknown server retention | Stored in cloud queue |\n| **Text Legibility** | **Sharp vector text preservation**| Often degrades text into blur | High clarity |\n| **Cost / Daily Limits** | **Free / One-time Pro** | 1 or 2 files free per day | Expensive subscriptions |\n","faq":[{"q":"Does PDF compression degrade the quality or readability of text?","a":"No. MiygaL PDF preserves vector text, fonts, tables, and line art with high clarity.
