Beyond Basic Filename Search
Standard Android file managers and basic PDF viewers typically search only file names.
If your bank statement is named eStatement_Oct_2026.pdf or an agreement is named Doc_98432.pdf, searching for an employer name, vendor payment, specific clause, or policy number yields zero results. You are forced to manually open each PDF, wait for it to render, and check page by page.
MiygaL PDF addresses this with Deep Content Search—an on-device search capability that indexes and searches the actual text inside documents across your library.
How Deep Content Search Works
1. User Benefit First: Multi-Document Search Scope
Unlike standard in-document search tools that only check the currently open file, MiygaL's search engine covers your entire recognized local PDF library with a single query. Type an account number, supplier name, or contractual phrase, and find every matching document across your device.
2. Contextual Snippets & Direct Page Jump
Search results are presented in a clean list showing:
- Document title and folder location.
- The exact page number where the keyword occurred.
- A contextual text snippet showing the matched term.
- One-tap jump that opens the document directly at that exact page with the search term highlighted in the viewer.
3. Local Indexing & Relevance Ranking
Behind the scenes, MiygaL extracts embedded digital text streams using a background worker pool and indexes terms into a local SQLite FTS5 (Full-Text Search 5) database on your device. Search results utilize BM25 probabilistic relevance scoring to rank documents with relevant keyword occurrences higher. The background worker incorporates micro-delays to preserve device battery life.
Important Distinction: Digital Text PDFs vs. Scanned Images
To maintain clear and accurate expectations:
Native Digital PDFs (Fully Searchable)
Documents generated digitally—such as bank e-statements, utility bills, converted office documents, research papers, and digital contracts—contain embedded text streams. These documents are fully searchable by Deep Content Search.
Scanned Paper Documents & Image PDFs (Filename Search Only)
Documents that consist purely of camera photographs or scanned bitmap images without an embedded text layer (such as photos of paper receipts or scanned faxes) contain image pixels rather than text characters.
Important Limitation: MiygaL PDF does not bundle heavy optical character recognition (OCR) models, keeping the application lightweight, fast, and battery-friendly. Scanned image files can be located via filename, folder, or custom Smart Labels, but their visual contents cannot be searched by internal text unless an OCR text layer was added prior to saving.
User Perspective Use Cases
1. Financial Audits & Record Keeping
Finding every document mentioning a specific vendor, transaction ID, or dollar amount across archived quarterly statements.
2. Legal Review & Due Diligence
Searching for specific indemnity, termination, or confidentiality clauses across supplier agreements without opening files individually.
3. Academic & Technical Research
Locating citations, formulas, or author references across downloaded research papers and reference manuals.
